We view family as an essential component of a patient’s ongoing recovery program. That’s why we seek to involve family members in the addiction treatment and recovery process from the beginning. Addiction doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and we know that a loved one’s alcohol or drug abuse creates ripples that impact the entire family.
Talbott Recovery’s Family Program is the first step for many addicted families on the road to healing. Our Family Program is designed to assess the family’s needs, educate loved ones about chemical dependence, and offer ongoing family support during and after the patient’s treatment.
What to Expect From Addiction Family Therapy
Once a patient is admitted to any Talbott Recovery treatment program, a counselor who specializes in addiction and substance abuse family therapy is assigned to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. We understand this has been a very difficult and confusing time for a patient’s family members and loved ones. We believe our addiction family therapy will begin to answer some of the questions you have about what needs to be done by the patient and family.
- Our Addiction Family Therapy Program includes:
- Five family sessions (via telephone or on campus for Atlanta-area residents)
- A three-day family workshop held on campus during the treatment process
- Education on the disease of addiction
- A supportive environment
- Opportunities to address questions and concerns
Because patients are encouraged to bond with their patient residential community members, visitors are allowed in the community only in special circumstances throughout addiction treatment. For information about visitation and assistance with our visitation process, please talk with your family counselor.
