Licensed Professionals Addiction Recovery Program: Our Difference

We are pioneers in addiction recovery for licensed professionals. Our specialized treatment model helps you abstain from addictive substances and return to your professional career in less time. Since 1989, we have successfully treated more than 6,000 licensed professionals.

We are a residential addiction treatment program with a real-world recovery philosophy. You undergo intensive therapy on weekdays and spend evenings and weekends off campus. This approach helps you navigate common challenges as part of the healing process.

The Talbott Recovery difference includes:

  • Privacy: Seeking care at Talbott Recovery helps retain anonymity, lowering the likelihood of encountering colleagues, patients or clients during treatment. This is one of the reasons people from all 50 states, Canada and Europe choose our program.
  • Academic-quality care: You receive services from a team that specializes in addiction medicine for professionals. We deliver evidence-based care that acknowledges and respects your background and experience — without being overwhelming or oversimplified.
  • Peer support: You recover alongside fellow licensed professionals. This approach helps establish a sense of community while easing the stigma of seeking treatment.
  • Recovery residence: You share an apartment with three peers of the same gender in a nearby residential area. Accommodations include a gym, pool, clubhouse and business office. Talbott Recovery staff provide around-the-clock supervision. Read more about our recovery residences.
  • Flexibility: Time outside of treatment is structured yet flexible. You are welcome to use your phone, computer or other devices. You can cook meals at your apartment, call loved ones, work on therapy assignments or socialize with peers.

Addiction Recovery for Licensed Professionals: Why Choose Us?

Our founder, Dr. G. Douglas Talbott, developed the first addiction treatment program for doctors in 1989. Shortly afterward, the program expanded to include other healthcare workers, pilots, lawyers and other individuals in high-stress occupations. Read more about the history of Talbott Recovery.

Highlights of our program include:

  • Broad range of services: Offerings include specialized assessments to confirm or rule out substance use disorder. Treatment involves therapies, medication (if necessary), monitoring, peer support and continuous care planning. We tailor your treatment plan and ensure a seamless experience. Read more about the elements of treatment.
  • Addiction medicine specialists: Physicians and psychiatrists certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine guide your care. They use evidence-based methods to determine substance use disorder severity so you receive appropriate therapies. You meet with them weekly to review progress and determine whether additional services are necessary. Meet the staff.
  • Coordinated care: Addiction medicine specialists work alongside psychiatrists, internists, case managers, family counselors and continuing care coordinators. We frequently communicate with you and each other to tailor treatments to your needs. Managing the small details of your recovery enables you to focus on healing.
  • Collaboration with industry stakeholders: Talbott Recovery maintains relationships with select employers, professional boards and licensing agencies. We have an in-depth understanding of return-to-work regulations and mandatory reporting requirements. This knowledge leads to focused treatments and confidential communication that help you return to work sooner.
  • Dual diagnosis treatment: Roughly 50% of people with addiction also have other mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. Our integrated treatment approach helps you heal from both types of conditions. You undergo recovery services and mental health treatments that may include specialized therapy and prescription medications. Read more about our dual diagnosis program.
