Addiction Family Therapy Program

At Talbott Recovery, we understand the effects addiction has on the entire family unit. Our Addiction Family Therapy Program aims to educate and support our patients and their families on the impacts of chemical dependence as well as give family members an opportunity to be actively involved in their loved one’s treatment.

The Addiction Family Therapy Mission

The mission of the Family Services Department is to provide patients and families with support and education on the disease of addiction, cross addiction and the impact on the family. Our addiction and substance abuse family therapy program is designed to assess your family’s needs, educate you about chemical dependence and offer ongoing family support during and/or after the patient’s substance abuse treatment.

The disease of addiction has significant physical, emotional and social consequences for the individual seeking addiction treatment and for the family and significant others who have been impacted by the disease. We view family as an essential component of a patient’s ongoing recovery program and seek to involve family members in the addiction treatment and recovery process.

What to Expect from Addiction Family Therapy

Once a patient is admitted to Talbott Recovery, a counselor who specializes in addiction and substance abuse family therapy is assigned to respond to any questions/concerns you may have. We understand this has been a very difficult and confusing time for a patient’s family members. We believe our addiction family therapy will begin to answer some of the questions you have about what needs to be done by the patient and family.

Our addiction family therapy program consists of:

  • Multiple weekly family groups
  • Education on the disease of addiction
  • A supportive environment
  • Opportunities to address questions and concerns

Visitation

Because patients are encouraged to bond with their patient residential community members, visitors are allowed in the community only in special circumstances throughout addiction treatment. For information about visitation and assistance with our visitation process, please talk with your family counselor.
