Family Workshop for Addiction Support
The Family Workshop is an intensive, three day addiction counseling and support program designed to educate family members about the disease of alcoholism/addiction and the recovery process. This program is part of Talbott’s addiction counseling strategy for the entire family of those who attended main campus treatment. The Family Workshop teaches family members about current medical information on the biological and genetic components of the disease of alcoholism/addiction and the impact the disease has on the family system. Addiction family therapy participants are given basic tools to help:
- Improve communication in the family
- Set boundaries
- Identify high risk behaviors and relapse warning signs
- Discuss possible aftercare plans.
Family Workshop participants attend process groups, which provide a supportive environment to discuss the impact of addiction on the family and to begin to learn skills for family recovery. The addiction family therapy program also includes a Family/Couples addiction counseling session with your family counselor.
