The Family Workshop is an intensive, three day addiction support program designed to educate family members about the disease of alcoholism/addiction and the recovery process, and is part of Talbott’s substance abuse counseling strategy for the entire family. The Family Workshop teaches family members about current medical information on the biological and genetic components of the disease of alcoholism/addiction and the impact the disease has on the family system. Addiction family therapy participants are given basic tools to improve communication in the family, set boundaries, identify high risk behaviors and relapse warning signs and discuss possible aftercare plans. Family Workshop participants attend process groups, which provide a supportive environment to discuss the impact of addiction on the family and to begin to learn skills for family recovery. The addiction family therapy program also includes a Family/Couples session with your family counselor.
