Pentobarbital, often sold under the brand name Nembutal, is a prescription drug that is often used as a sedative, sleeping pill or anticonvulsant drug. Highly addictive, this drug is typically used for only short periods of time and in a controlled environment, such as prior to surgery, whenever possible. When used to aid insomnia, it is generally only prescribed for up to two weeks.
Known under the street name “nembies”, when used for reasons other than prescribed, this drug can be highly addictive.
Signs of Pentobarbital Dependency
Dependency often comes as a result of repeated use, over a prolonged period of time. As the user develops a tolerance for the drug, they will require more of it in order to achieve the effects they desire.
Signs of pentobarbital abuse include:
- Unsteady gait
- Slurred speech
- Poor judgment
- Uncontrollable movements of the eye
